Dan Joseph & Dicky Mayer – PAC-3’s savvy veteran and blue chip prospect enter the PP3 Cup together

When PAC-3 leader, Coach Flexo, drafted his boys and created the team – Dan Joseph met every qualification the Coach had. Joseph was an experienced veteran, bombastic with untapped potential, and (most importantly) he was a lifelong tag team wrestler.

Dicky Mayer is the blue-chipper of PAC-3. A well-drafted and well-scouted prospect with “can’t miss” written all over him. Like all young talents, he’s single-handedly won PAC-3 some very important matches on talent alone, including a win over the team of Drew Gulak and Timothy Thatcher. But, also like all young talents, he’s single-handedly lost PAC-3 some very important matches on inexperience alone.

PAC-3 is a team. They function, much like the legendary Fabulous Freebirds, as a rotating bench of two-man tag teams. It was fitting that (through random draw) – Joseph and Mayer got to qualify for the tournament together at our December 4th TV taping. You can rest assured that Coach Flex and new Red Shirt Freshman, Dylan Bostic will be in both corners each time they compete as well.

The Percival Pringle III Memorial Cup is a single’s competition, however. This means that Joseph and Mayer could find themselves matched up against one another. Will PAC-3’s strength in numbers lead the PP3 Cup to Coach Flexo’s trophy case (and an almost certain United Tag Team Championship challenge)? Or will, to borrow an axiom from football, will we learn that “If you have two PP3 competitors, you have zero PP3 competitors“?

Yuma is seeking something – is what he’s looking for inside the PP3 Cup?

Two years ago, Yuma won the Percival Pringle III Memorial Cup – and that was a dark day in Hollywood. Yuma’s victory heralded the rise of the age of Vermin. As Vermin’s unquestioned leader, his victory set a tone that ultimately led to all of the gold in Hollywood being seized by the banes of the Marquez family’s existence.

Yuma, himself, took home the big prize. He used ‘Percy’s Privilege‘ exactly the way everyone expected he would. He surprised a beaten and unsuspecting Hobo to take the Hollywood Heritage Championship.

These days, Vermin is gone. Yuma is alone. And there is something… different about him. He has shown a reluctance to cheat and a desire to make a change… though he hasn’t quite figured out how or what. The violent and sadistic streak is still there, though. Just ask Jarek 1:20 who mistakenly thought the new Yuma was a ripe target and got destroyed in a non-sanctioned contest that saw Yuma stop at nothing to punish his opponent.

Yuma’s search for what comes next will become a lot more focused if he has a short-cut to gold in his hands, and he knows that. Maybe making him the most dangerous person in this tournament.

Could the PP3 Cup help Ryan Taylor find his zen?

Ryan Taylor is one of the most decorated wrestler in the history of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. He has won the Hollywood Heritage Championship. He has won the United Tag Team Championships. He has won the United Television Championship. He’s even won the Percival Pringle III Memorial Cup before (though he was issued a rare defeat when he attempted to cash in ‘Percy’s Privilege‘).

What does this tell us about Ryan Taylor? It tells us that, when he can focus and execute – he can win ANYTHING. That’s the good news for Ryan Taylor.

The bad news for Ryan Taylor is that, these days, he seems to be very visibly struggling with his focus. Taylor may have taken the demise of Vermin hardest. Fans taunted the return of “Cryin’ Ryan” as a devastated Taylor watched the group implode. Since that day, he has tried to become a more meditative, controlled wrestler and man.

But his balance is anything but zen, these days. His furious temper has found a target in Espiritu (with whom he qualified for this tournament at the December 4th TV taping). He enters this tournament with one eye on the prize and one eye on his hated rival. Can Taylor find his focus?

Suede Thompson Looks To Fill The PP3 Cup With Suederade

Suede Thompson is on a roll lately. After scoring a victory over DJ Hyde, Hobo and Astro Viajero at our December 4th TV taping to qualify, Thompson may have momentum on his side heading into the tournament. ‘Your favorite wrestler’s favorite wrestler’ followed the United Wrestling Network loop up from Championship Wrestling from Arizona, where he is a fan favorite as well.

Light on his feet in the ring and on the dancefloor, Thompson’s quickness and smoothness could make him an early favorite in the tournament. If he were to win, one can only imagine how quickly and deftly he could dance to the ring to catch a champion napping.

A Well-Urn’ed Legacy: The Percival Pringle III Memorial Cup Turns 5

December marks the beginning of “PP3 Cup Season” in Hollywood and it is always an incredibly bittersweet occasion. As the tournament turns five, it serves as a sobering reminder the CWFH’s beloved friend, Percy Pringle III has been gone for five years. However, it’s always sweet because it marks the beginning of the Hollywood calendar.

What makes the Percival Pringle III Memorial Cup so important? What makes it so unique? To understand that you have to understand…

mg_5171bThe Man

Do you know Percy Pringle III? Chances are the answer to that question is a very loud “Ohhhhhh Yessssss!”, even if you don’t know him by that name. He was a legendary manager – a flamboyant, wealthy and over-privileged southerner who always got what he wanted. He was portrayed by Mr. William Moody – who also went on to portray another legendary manager – Paul Bearer. At Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, Percy served as a manager, a commentator, a mentor and a friend.

14566276_10104349265204470_3246194885844131670_oThe Urn

For the delight of his fans, Percy carried his legendary ‘urn’ from his Paul Bearer days with him to all appearances. No one knew that Percy’s last trip to Hollywood would be his last and, as fate would have it, he left his urn behind – resolving to just pick it up ‘next time.’ Sadly, there was no next time. But the iconic urn lives on. With the blessing of his family, Percy’s urn was mounted to a trophy stand and the Percival Pringle III Memorial Cup was born.

The Tournament

At the end of the calendar year, the entire roster competes in qualifying matches, leaving eight competitors for the tournament. A bracket is then formed and a single-elimination winner-take-all set of matches take place at the beginning of the new year. The tourney always seems to ‘set the ball rolling’ each year in Hollywood. The faces that compete become the faces to watch. New feuds erupt as each wrestler vies for their shot at the most unique prize in all of professional wrestling.

The Privilege

The winner of the cup is afforded ‘Percy’s Privilege’. The man who had it all always got what he wanted…and the holder of his cup gets to enjoy that privilege as well. Whomever holds the PP3 Cup can use it to challenge for ANY of the championships defended at Championship Wrestling from Hollywood at ANY time. Once the cup is awarded, every Champion in CWFH must constantly be looking over their shoulder.

Just a few short weeks ago, a decimated Friendship Express sat near-lifeless in the ring after retaining their United Tag Team Championships in a brutal battle with the Classic Connection. The world sat in shock as the badly wounded duo were all but powerless to stop “Big Nasty” Eric Watts, who marched to the ring with the PP3 Cup and used Percy’s Privilege to single-handedly win BOTH tag team championships…for himself! Since then, the tag team division has been in utter turmoil – a testament to the power of the Cup.

We can only begin to wonder what shocking moment awaits Hollywood when the PP3 Cup (and Percy’s Privilege) fall into new hands in 2017.

THREE Huge Main Events This Sunday In Pt Hueneme!

Three Episodes means Three Huge Main Events This Sunday!

FREE this Sunday at 3pm at the Oceanview Pavilion (click here for info)

MAIN EVENT #1 – Big Duke vs DJ Hyde in a STRAP MATCH

duke-dj-11-13

DJ Hyde has been one step ahead of Big Duke for months. Every time Duke turns his back, DJ strikes. Every time Duke is about to get his hands on DJ, DJ escapes. And so it has gone. At one point DJ hurt Duke so badly that he put Duke in the hospital, leading to DJ being fined and suspended. So it comes as no surprise that Duke was thrilled to be granted a Strap Match against his rival.

With Duke literally bound to him, DJ won’t be able to get away. But, it can’t be ignored that Duke is also volunteering to be bound to DJ Hyde – the Lariat God. Was this all just a part of DJ’s plan? Both men seem to think they have the other right where he wants them. We’ll see who is right this Sunday!

MAIN EVENT #2 – Jarek 1:20 vs. Yuma in a NON-SANCTIONED MATCH

yuma-jarek-11-13

It’s been a rough year for Yuma. After working his way back from injury to reclaim the throne as leader of Vermin, he quickly saw the group at Red Carpet Rumble. On his own, he quickly became a target.

In his first post-Vermin moment, he attempted to address the crowd at the Oceanview Pavilion when an unsettling video of Yuma playing with his newborn son suddenly found its way onto the video monitors. For weeks Yuma’s family was stalked and voyeuristically documented until Yuma finally was able to capture the culprit in the act and unmasked his tormentor as Jarek 1:20.

Jarek employed an army of clowns to torment Yuma, kidnapping him and hanging him from the ceiling of the Pavilion for hours. Despite the requests of his doctors and family, Yuma recovered and returned to strike Jarek at his own birthday party. With the emotional and physical stakes running so high, the Marquez family cannot (in good conscience) sanction a match between the two; however, both have agreed to waive their rights and settle their differences in the ring.

MAIN EVENT #3– Bad Dude Tito vs. “Pretty” Peter Avalon for the Hollywood Heritage Championship

ppa-tito-11-13

Bad Dude Tito has been crying “conspiracy” toward the Marquez family and their “favorite child” – Avalon – for quite a while. His claims gained some odd traction at Milestone. In their Championship match, which Tito earned by winning the Red Carpet Rumble, Nikolas Marquez made a fast/awkward (and seemingly incomplete) three-count in the place of a downed official.

The confusing moment sent Peter home with his belt, sent Tito home furious and sent a nervous Marquez home quickly. The conspiracy theory seemed proven right; however, until Avalon stepped through the curtain to inform Tito that he didn’t like the end of their first match anymore than he did and that he would be willing to offer his wronged challenger a rematch. Tito accepted and has done something unprecedented since then – he’s stayed quite.

A focused/angry Bad Dude could be Bad News for Avalon. But, CWFH has been here before – writing Avalon’s eulogy before a championship match. Yet, Avalon just officially climbed to the top of the record books as the longest-reigning champion in Hollywood history. Hard to imagine there could come a day where it wasn’t PPA All Day.

COASTLINE CLASH ’16: Avalon v Darevko for the Hollywood Heritage Championship

Hollywood Heritage Championship Match
“Pretty” Peter Avalon (c) vs. Sasha Darevko (special guest ref Scorpio Sky)

Sasha Darevko wanted the champion’s attention, so he snuck up from behind and bludgeoned him with a chain. Then the Russian wanted Peter Avalon’s belt, so he snuck off, stole it and ran off.

When Darevko and the belt resurfaced, both were under the protection of an imposing bodyguard, whose name we’ve never learned. But Darevko and his stone-faced associate have proven to be too much for Avalon at seemingly every turn. And they’re still in possession of the Hollywood Heritage Championship – despite never having won it!

Darevko and his un-named associate have each taken turns guarding their ill-gotten gold.
Darevko and his un-named associate have each taken turns guarding their ill-gotten gold.

Now, Avalon is faced with the grim conclusion that he’s stepping into the ring against an opponent he hasn’t been able to defeat in weeks. If he can’t win, PPA won’t have to worry about that belt anymore – it won’t be his anyway.

Darevko’s underhanded tactics have involved bullying to such a severe degree that senior CWFH official Nick Bonnano has refused to sanction an official for their encounter. Thankfully, one won’t be needed as Nicolas Marquez has brought former champion Scorpio Sky back to Hollywood to serve as Special Guest Referee!

Will Sky be impartial? Can PPA reclaim what is rightfully his? Or will the gold and the glory follow Darevko back to Moscow?

For more on this feud, see this article from HollywoodWrestling.com!

Watch below: Avalon attempts to reclaim his title belt, but runs afoul of Darevko and his associate.

Sasha Darevko once again left with "Pretty" Peter Avalon's Hollywood Heritage Title at the conclusion of last week's episode of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood! If you missed it, catch up online at www.patreon.com/UnitedWrestling!
